About David
David at Park Head, Cartmel Peninsular
I live and breathe photography and I love it! I am particularly passionate about monochrome photography and I like nothing more than being in the landscape with my camera, a good pair of boots and a map. I am lucky to call Cumbria my home and that includes the beautiful Morecambe Bay and the Lake District. I was born and bred in Port Sunlight on The Wirral, Merseyside and now live in Grange-over-Sands with my wife Sarah.

My interest in photography began when I was given my first proper camera at the age of fifteen, it was a film camera. However, my love of photography really began when I set up my first darkroom at home, in my teenage bedroom. When I watched my first image appear in a tray of chemicals, it was like magic and I was totally hooked. Some forty-eight years later, I still experience the same excitement when I see my images appear, albeit on a computer screen. I’ve had many happy years working with film and printing in darkrooms, but now I use digital cameras and print with pigment inks on cotton papers. Working how I do today allows me to really express my view of the landscape better than I ever have before.

If you would like to know more about me and my photography have a read of my blog posts. I’m still in the process of building this website so in the meantime, have a look at my work on Instagram, I will resume posting new work there later this year.
Cheers,
David
